The Journey

Looking for an engaging, creative, educational experience for your child?

Wild Gypsy Child is pleased to offer a unique program which combines age-appropriate enrichment lessons and creative projects. Each high-interest session or series will explore a different theme or work of literature. Classes from Wild Gypsy Child are designed to develop and enrich literacy skills by exploring all varieties of literature and their connections to other fields of study such as history and science. Offerings will include week-long novel studies, exploration studies, book clubs, special seasonal or holiday workshops/celebrations, and birthday parties.

Our mission at Wild Gypsy Child is to foster, through the study of all genres of literature, the curiosity, wonder, and creativity which comes naturally to children, as well as the love of reading for the sake of the stories themselves. Children will become immersed in story; we will extend what we read into activities and creative endeavors as we explore the richness the literary world has to offer. Children will gain vital skills in reading comprehension, valid questioning, focused writings, and critical thinking. Classes include incorporation of skills such as comparing and contrasting, determining genre, story elements, authorโ€™s purpose, point of view, making inferences, and drawing conclusions. ***Announcement***

Hello everyone,

We hope you all are having a wonderful New Year! You may have noticed that we have been quiet lately at Wild Gypsy Child. This past fall, we became unable to continue occupying our space in Morrisville due to circumstances beyond our control. We are in the process of restructuring and looking for a new location in Raleigh, and have some exciting things planned for 2016. During this transition time, we would like to offer some condensed versions of our classes, bookclubs, and tutoring. We are flexible with times and locations for our services. If interested, please send us a message indicating which type of classes you are inquiring about. Our website will give an idea of things we have offered in the past, and some of the classes we may offer shorter versions of, depending on interest. Thank you for following us on our journey this past year; we look forward to a new year full of wonderful stories!ย

  1. Sooo exciting! I am a teacher here in Wake County and this has been a dream of mine. I am so happy that you have taken the risk to bring back the love for reading and learning. I would definitely like to talk to you sometime. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor …. This is magical!!! I will surely try to get to the open house and introduce myself to you.

  2. Hi Suzanne. Ida Jackson introduced me to your site. What a wonderful idea! Do you hold classes for homeschoolers? Or would you? ๐Ÿ™‚

      Hi Stephanie!

Thanks so much for getting in touch! We definitely can do classes for homeschoolers in a couple of different ways. Homeschoolers are welcome to join any of our track-out, book club, or summer camp classes with other students. If you are part of a homeschool group (or could get enough kids together) and would like to schedule a week-long class, single workshops or series, or have other ideas, we can structure something around our regular schedule. We are limited in size to about 12 kids per class. I would love to hear from you and to find a way that we can serve your needs. Please let me know if you are interested in talking further! Have a great day!
